What Is the AQF? A Student's Guide to Australian Qualifications

Certificate, Diploma, Bachelor's Degree or Graduate Diploma — what do they all mean? 🎓 If you're exploring education in Australia, you've probably come across the term Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) . Understanding it can help you make sense of different qualification types and levels. 📘 What is the AQF? The Australian Qualifications Framework is Australia's national framework for regulated qualifications across school, vocational education and training, and higher education. It provides a common framework for describing qualification levels and types. The AQF includes ten levels, with different qualifications associated with different levels. 🎓 Why should students care? Understanding qualification levels can help you: ✅ Research the type of qualification you're considering. ✅ Understand how qualifications are positioned within the framework. ✅ Investigate further-study possibilities. ✅ Ask more informed questions about course outcomes. However, an AQF level alone does not tell you everything about a course, its entry requirements, professional recognition or suitability for a particular job. 🔍 Check before you enrol Before committing to a course, investigate:

• Is the provider appropriately registered?

• Is the qualification current and recognised within the relevant framework?

• Is the provider authorised to deliver it?

• Does the course meet your career or further-study goals?

For vocational education, consult the National Register at training.gov.au . For higher education, check the relevant TEQSA register and the provider's accreditation arrangements. 🚀 Explore qualifications with AQF Verify AQF Verify helps learners discover qualifications, explore their AQF levels and investigate related career pathways.
